The new SDHC 16 GB card has been launched by Transcend and is one of the first that meets the Class 6 requirement with this capacity (Class 6 devices have a minimum of 6MB/s data write speed).

Class 6 is the fastest transfer speed provided with 2.0 SD specifics based on SDHC standard (the other ones are 2 and 4, representing again writing speed). This standard has also the FAT32 file-system support, required for partitions more than 2 GB.

Among the other features the Error Correcting Code (EEC) detecting and fixing (where possible) data transfer errors.

According to Transcend a number of 8.000 pictures in high resolution (7 megapixel JPG format) can be saved with 16 GB and thousand of video clips.

The new SDHC Transcend card should be offered by the end of this year even if the price is not available yet. The 8 GB Class 6 model can be found on internet with a price between 70 and 95 euros
