NatAmi FPGA-based Amiga

natami-amigaclone NatAmi or "Native Amiga" is the second FPGA-based Amiga clone to be announced (after Minimig) .

The purpose of the project is to recreate a "smart and reliable computer which can... compete with current established systems." The developer aims to achieve the goal by implementing all of the features documented in the Amiga Hardware Reference Manuals.

A working prototype has been showed at MeKa 2008 - Amiga party recently held in Germany (on Amigaworld.net a complete report).

LimePC: iPod nano sized UMPC

limepc LimePC M1 is probably the best hit at CES 2008. With a iPod nano size it has however features like Graphics, Audio card, PCI, Ethernet, SATA, USB, Wifi and touch-screen: a complete PC in your pocket even able to run Linux.

Based on MPC5121e all-in-one Freescale Semiconductor's chip (society founded from  Motorola spin-off in 2004) will be available later in 2008.

IT expert role in Italy

From the Punto Informatico web magazine (and some articles from Giuseppe Cubasia reported there)  here below an interesting point of view on the computer or IT specialist role particularly related to the Italian market (list of the articles).

The articles present Italian market as an IKEA shop, where big projects and innovations needed to give the country that necessary technologic framework have disappeared. A market with a short perspective, without any tendency and possibility for investments but based on cheapest and easiest solutions (most of the times technically improper and with a short life).
