Amiga

Here you can find some material dedicated to the Amiga computer and everything linked to this wonderful machine born around the 80's and launched by Commodore in 1985.
Amiga computers introduced the multimedia concept. Thanks to specific custom chips, in fact, even common users would be able to elaborate graphic, video and music in a simply and professionally way (with an hardware integration and layout really effective similar to playstations, XBox or devices like these). Strongpoint of the machine was also the AmigaOS operating system able to provide even in 1985 preemptive multitasking, a colour graphic user interface, an Autoconfig peripheral technology and the capability to have independent graphic screen with different resolutions and characteristics for each program (feature still today exclusive).

Amiga keeps the pioneer 80's informatics soul, when software, motherboards or processor came directly from passion and talent of guru or expert teams moved by the first diffusion of home and personal computers and the first exciting steps of today's information technology.
The first prototype Amiga 1000 (derived from Lorraine Hi-Toro company project) was showed to the world on 23 July 1985 with the participation also of Andy Warhol. Not everybody knows that this artist loved working with its Amiga 1000: the clip "YOU ARE THE ONE" dedicated and realized with this machine and recently discovered is now exposed in the New York Museum of New Art. Amiga has entered in the history forever, also as a masterwork.
Amiga has introduced some concepts widespread today such as the animated mouse pointer, animated icons, multimedia objects included into documents; has introduced the multimedia concept; has contributed to the realization of first modelling and 3d animation programs; has developed the characteristic, today everywhere recognized, of direct and simply program use (as DeluxePaint for graphic); has revolutionized the information technologies world with some new extraordinary ideas (the Hold and Modify feature for example allowed 4096 colour visualization with a 12 bit screen depth even in 1985).

Amiga is still present today in a lot of fields, either retro-computing and with new projects. The SAM440 version if for example the only motherboard completely produced in Italy soon able to integrate the last AmigaOS4 operating system (spring 2008). This system is today already on the market and integrates modern functions (internet, multimedia etc) and the speed, flexibility and efficiency since ever core and best countersign quality of Amiga technology (able also to work on ex commodore old Amiga 1200 and 4000 models and play a divx or a dvd with just a 200mhz PPC CPU).
