Java is a object oriented programming language originally developed by
Sun Macrosystems.
The language derives much of its syntax from C and C++ even if Java applications are typically compiled to Bytecode
that can run on any Java virtual machine (JVM) regardless of computer architecture.
As of May 2007, in compliance with the specifications of the Java Community Process, Sun made available most of their Java technologies as free software, under the GNU General Public License.
Java is a platform independent programming language: the Bytecode generated by its compiler can be run
in fact in any environment having a Java Virtual Machine installed.
An independent language with high security level, net oriented and well supported have contributed
to the great success of Java during these last years.
